You update your phone and computer to handle newer software and technology, but when was the last time you updated your nervous system to handle our ever changing environment?
A chiropractic adjustment is like closing all the apps running in the background so that you can operate more efficiently. More efficient body functions = more resources for healing.
There are many different types of chiropractic care. The most common type of chiropractic care is focused on pain management, and many people are familiar with chiropractic care for low back pain, neck pain, and headaches. But, did you know that it can also affect things like stress, anxiety, insomnia, constipation, bedwetting, difficulty breastfeeding, and so much more? It's true! When chiropractic was first founded, it was not with the intent to heal back pain, it was with the intent to restore normal tone or tension to the nervous system, so that people could experience optimal function and optimal health.
Dr. Sarah takes a birds-eye-view of your health. She does not just focus on the area of pain or dysfunction, in-fact, she often finds that the area where you are experiencing pain or dysfunction is usually an area that is overcompensating for a problem somewhere else in the body.
Chiropractic is founded on the principle that there is an intelligence to the body that allows the body to heal itself. When you cut your finger you don't have to tell your body how to heal, is just does, right? Your lungs breathe, your heart beats, and your food digests all on it's own. It does that through the innate intelligence within your body.
The work that Dr. Sarah does is to unleash this inborn healing potential so that you can thrive the way you were designed to.
Dr. Sarah also does not believe that chiropractic care is always a one stop shop for all health issues, which is why she takes the time during your initial visit to determine if chiropractic care is the right fit for you, or if you are better off starting with another therapy like acupuncture, physical therapy, mental health counseling, functional medicine, lifestyle coaching, or something else!
Dr. Sarah is a Florida native and has taken the time to connect with local health care providers so that she can ensure her patients receive the best there is in integrative, holistic, and patient-centered care.
That being said, Dr. Sarah believes that a clear and connected nervous system is the key to experiencing your full health potential and that it is the foundation to good health. This is why she often recommends her patients to start with chiropractic care to normalize their nervous system function prior to starting a more intensive functional medicine program.
First, Dr. Sarah will take a detailed health history to learn more about you, your life, and what you are looking to get out of care. The goal is to determine if our office is the right fit for you + to assess how much stress your system is under, and how your lifestyle has affected your state of health. For kiddos she will also take into account birth trauma and developmental milestones.
Based on your history + your health goals, Dr. Sarah will determine if you are a candidate for this type of chiropractic care. She will explain the principle of chiropractic + how she thinks it can help you. As long as no further testing or imaging is needed, you will receive your first adjustment the same day.
Although chiropractic care is not intended to treat specific symptoms, many people do see improvements in aches, pains, sleep, anxiety, digestion, stress, and become more body aware within the first 1-3 weeks of care. Every body is different, so it can be difficult to predict if you will experience changes quickly or more slowly. Healing is also dependent on what you have tried so far. Sometimes people come to chiropractors as a last resort, and it is often the "missing link" that helps the body integrate everything else you are doing. Other times, we may need to navigate lifestyle changes and work with other practitioners to facilitate your full healing potential. This way of healing is truly patient centered, and specific to your unique needs.
It's a common misconception that the doctor adjusts the patient. In reality, your body is what does the adjustment. The doctor simply provides the input your brain needs in order to re-establish normal tension + clear out patterns that are no longer serving you.
Chiropractic 101
Your nervous system controls everything in your body.
Your spine + skull protect your central nervous system.
You have connective tissue that weaves throughout your body connecting the tips of your toes to the top of your head. Everything is connected.
Your nervous system is constantly taking inventory of everything in your environment and making minute changes on a microscopic level, every second of every day, for your entire life.
When the nervous system is overwhelmed by too much sensory input, it stores that information to be accesses and integrated later. But, sometimes later doesn't come, and that information creates a traffic jam in the communication highway of your body. It's like a muffled cell signal when you are in a concrete building.
This faulty input to the nervous system, creates faulty output, which causes abnormal connective tissue + muscle tissue tension.
This muscle tension causes spinal misalignment.
Because the spine is constantly communicating with the brain, if they spine is not working optimally, the brain is not getting optimal input.
When this happens your nervous system shifts into a protective fight, flight, freeze state, meaning your body is ready for combat.
This creates a cascade of electrical and physiological changes that affect your body's healing mechanisms, your immune system, movement patterns, memory, sleep, stress, digestion, and so much more.
There is no one adjustment for one symptom. There are simply layers upon laters of unintegrated information. There are things you can do to help your body heal and integrate outside of your adjustments that will help you transcend the healing pathway on a deeper level, but there is no shortcut.
Simply put: Chiropractic helps the brain and body communicate better so that it can heal itself. The "adjustment" provides a signal to your nervous system to integrate and adapt information that is affecting your body's innate healing abilities. Chiropractic is not designed to help you feel better, it is designed to help you heal better.
The initial visit is $185 which includes consultation, evaluation, chiropractic adjustment, and craniosacral, and myofascial release if necessary. Initial visits for family members are $110. Infant visits are always full price due to the additional time required and the level of evaluation.
Individual adjustments are $65 for an individual and pricing is tiered depending n how many family members are under care. Depending on your goals and your current state of health, Dr. Sarah will recommend a certain frequency. More frequent visits are considered part of a restorative plan to bring your back to an adaptable and vital baseline, wellness plans are for those who have been under chiropractic care previously, have completed a restorative plan, or are already feeling and functioning well.
Restoration Plans
Depending on your health history, your goals, and your current state of health, Dr. Sarah will often recommend a period o restorative care before you start your wellness plan. These are done in 12 visit increments, where you are coming in 2x per week for 4-6 weeks.
Restoration plans are typically meant to be used for people who need more frequent visits to kick off their healing process. People on these plans typically come in 2-3x per week. Most people move onto a wellness plan after their restorative plan, but if more visits are needed, another restoration plan can be done
. More details will be provided to you during your office visit or phone call with Dr. Sarah. There is also a discount for multiple family members who wish to begin restorative care simultaneously.
Wellness Plans
As a family wellness office, our goal is to get you to a point where you can come in weekly or bi-weekly for preventative care. Individual wellness plans average $55 per visit, family wellness plans average $25-45 per visit per person, depending on how many family members and how often you come in.
