Neurologically-focused Chiropractic Care

You update your phone and computer to handle newer software and technology, but when was the last time you updated your nervous system to handle our ever changing environment?

What's the difference between you and "regular" chiropractic

There are many different types of chiropractic care.  The traditional type of chiropractic care is focused on pain management. Most people are familiar with chiropractic care for low back pain, neck pain, and headaches. But, did you know that it can also affect things like stress, anxiety, insomnia, constipation, bedwetting, difficulty breastfeeding, and so much more? It's true!

You might be wondering how that is possible.

At Full Life Chiropractic, Dr. Sarah takes a birds-eye-view of your health. She does not just focus on the area of pain or dysfunction, in-fact, she often finds that the area where you are experiencing pain or dysfunction is usually an area that is overcompensating for a problem somewhere else in the body.

Chiropractic is founded on the principle that there is an intelligence to the body that allows the body to heal itself. When you cut your finger you don't have to tell your body how to heal, is just does, right? Your lungs breathe, your heart beats, and your food digests all on it's own. It does that through the innate intelligence within your body.

The work that Dr. Sarah does is to unleash this inborn healing potential so that you can thrive the way you were designed to.

Dr. Sarah also does not believe that chiropractic care is always a one stop shop for all health issues, which is why she takes the time during your initial visit to determine if chiropractic care is the right fit for you, or if you are better off starting with another therapy like acupuncture, physical therapy, mental health counseling, functional medicine, lifestyle coaching, or something else!

Dr. Sarah is a Florida native and has taken the time to connect with local health care providers so that she can ensure her patients receive the best there is in integrative, holistic, and patient-centered care.

That being said, Dr. Sarah believes that a clear and connected nervous system is the key to experiencing your full health potential and that it is the foundation to good health. This is why she often recommends her patients to start with chiropractic care to normalize their nervous system function prior to starting a more intensive functional medicine program.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT

First, Dr. Sarah will take a detailed health history to learn more about you, your life, and what you are looking to get out of care. The goal is to determine if our office is the right fit for you + to assess how much stress your system is under, and how your lifestyle has affected your state of health. For kiddos she will also take into account birth trauma and developmental milestones.

Next, she will perform a neurological + orthopedic examination to determine how you are doing from a biomechanical + neurophysiological perspective. The goal here is to determine if you have structural dysfunction, a neurological dysfunction, or a combination of the two. Included in this are NASA-developed neurological scans to assess the state of your Autonomic Nervous System - Heart Rate Variability, Surface Electromyography, and Thermography.

If necessary, spinal x-rays will be taken to determine postural deficits and if there are any reasons why you should not be adjusted.

Your first visit also includes your first adjustment. Expect the visit to last 30-45 minutes.

what is an adjustment like?

Dr. Sarah is a little different than most chiropractors in that she does not typically perform manual adjustments with popping, twisting, or cracking. She finds that a large majority of people, herself included, have nervous systems that are over-stimulated and that these types of adjustments can be too stimulating.

Instead, Dr. Sarah will use light touch or an adjusting instrument to correct spinal misalignments and stimulate the nervous system to achieve a state of ease. Ultimately, Dr. Sarah doesn't do the same type of adjusting for every single patient. The care is individualized to each person, on each visit. The adjustments are designed to build on one another, peeling back layers of stress and dysfunction that have been stored in the nervous system.

Another element that is different than other adjusting techniques is that Dr. Sarah does not typically adjust more than 3-4 areas in one visit. It depends on what your system needs, but often the first visit consists of just one powerful, focused, specific, adjustment that is exactly what you need, no more, no less. When transitioning from traditional chiropractic to this low-force technique, it can take a few visits to notice the subtle shifts that are occurring, but if you are patient you will notice that by doing less, I allow your body to do more which promotes adaptability of the nervous system and allows your body to constantly "self-update" and heal itself on an ongoing basis.

People often report feeling lighter, well-rested, relaxed, vibrant, or more clear-headed after their adjustment.
